- Matt: no shine, a natural look, and usually better slip resistance. A good choice for floors, especially kitchens, hallways and bathrooms.
- Satin or lappato: a soft sheen, between matt and gloss.
- Gloss: a shiny glazed surface that reflects light and is easy to wipe clean. Best for walls and splashbacks. Gloss floor tiles can be slippery when wet.
- Polished: a mirror-like finish. Looks striking on floors but can be slippery when wet and shows marks more easily.
Always check the slip rating on the product page if you're tiling a floor.
