Some of our tiles are suitable for wet room and shower floors, but not all of them. A shower floor gets wet all the time and you'll usually be barefoot, so the tile needs to be chosen carefully. Look for:
- Good slip resistance: a slip rating of R10 or above, and a matt or textured finish. Avoid gloss and polished tiles on shower floors.
- A size that suits the slope: a wet room floor slopes towards the drain, and smaller tiles, such as mosaics, follow the slope more easily. Larger tiles can work with a long linear drain, where the floor slopes in one direction only.
The floor must also be fully tanked (waterproofed) before tiling, for example with a tanking kit or water-resistant foam backer boards, to protect the floor underneath from water.
