Porcelain and ceramic floor tiles are hard-wearing and easy to look after.
Clean properly during installation. It's vital that any adhesive and grout residue is wiped off the tiles as they're laid, before it sets. Once dried, it leaves a dull, cloudy film called grout haze, which normal cleaning won't remove and which makes floors look dirty or streaky however often you mop.
- Day to day: sweep or vacuum to remove grit, which can dull the surface over time, then mop with warm water.
- For a deeper clean: use our Porcelain Floor Cleaner. It lifts dirt without leaving a residue. You can also use a mild, pH-neutral household cleaner, diluted as directed.
- Spills: wipe them up as soon as you can, especially on pale grout.
Avoid bleach, acidic or abrasive cleaners, and wax- or oil-based floor polishes. They can damage grout and leave a sticky film that attracts dirt. If your floor looks streaky after mopping, you're probably using too much cleaner, so rinse with clean water.
Polished tiles: use only a soft mop and a pH-neutral cleaner, as scouring pads and harsh products can dull the shine.
