Wall tiles generally need very little care.
Clean properly during installation. It's vital that any adhesive and grout residue is wiped off the tiles as they're fixed, before it sets. Once dried, it leaves a dull, cloudy film called grout haze, which normal cleaning won't remove.
- Day to day: wipe with a soft, damp cloth, then dry with a microfibre cloth to avoid water marks.
- Showers and splashbacks: a squeegee after each shower stops water marks and limescale building up. For soap scum or grease, use a mild, pH-neutral cleaner.
- Limescale: use a limescale remover that's safe for tiles and grout, test it on a small area first, then rinse well with clean water.
Avoid abrasive pads and powders, which can scratch glazes, and bleach, which can discolour coloured grout.
Crackle-glaze tiles: clean these with water and a pH-neutral cleaner only. Avoid acidic products, including vinegar and most limescale removers, which can mark the glaze.
